Hydrocolloids are primarily composed of Carboxymethyl cellulose and provide a moist wound healing environment. They form a gel in the presence of exudate thereby creating a moist environment and promoting autolytic debridement of dry, sloughy or necrotic wounds.They are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, thicknesses and with or without an adhesive border.Hydrocolloid dressings are suitable for use on superficial burns, leg ulcers,pressure ulcers,granulating or necrotic wounds and low exuding wounds.
NU-DERM™ Hydrocolloid dressings are specially designed to maintain a moist wound environment. Their top layer is made of semi-permeable polyurethane film and also has bevelled edges all around the product. Such dressings are waterproof and typically stay in place throughout the shower. When in contact with exudate it forms a soft gel that is easily removed together with the dressing and does not damage the newly developed tissue. These dressings are available in various sizes.
