Hydrocolloids are primarily composed of Carboxymethyl cellulose and provide a moist wound healing environment. They form a gel in the presence of exudate thereby creating a moist environment and promoting autolytic debridement of dry, sloughy or necrotic wounds. They are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, thicknesses and with or without an adhesive border.Hydrocolloid dressings are suitable for use on superficial burns, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, granulating or necrotic wounds and low exuding wounds.
Comfeel Plus is a range of Hydrocolloid Dressings with moisture absorbing sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and Calcium alginate. The top film is a semi-permeable polyurethane film. When the dressing comes into contact with wound exudate, it forms a viscous gel that absorbs exudate, but does not adhere to the wound. Comfeel Plus can be used for treatment of low to moderately exuding wounds. It is available in a range of varients to accomodate different needs.
