They form a gel in the presence of exudate thereby creating a moist environment and promoting autolytic debridement of dry, sloughy or necrotic wounds.They are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, thicknesses and with or without an adhesive border.Hydrocolloid dressings are suitable for use on superficial burns, leg ulcers,pressure ulcers,granulating or necrotic wounds and low exuding wounds.
