Dressings-Charcoal-Actisorb

Activated Charcoal added to dressings absorb odour from wounds. Activated charcoal does not aid the healing process but reducing odours from wounds is important as they can cause distress and anxiety for both patient and carer. Wound odour is usually caused by anaerobic bacteria present in the necrotic wound tissue. The charcoal absorbs the bacteria, wound toxins and other odour causing matter present in the wound bed.
